Can anyone clarify the minimum stay requirements for the following? I’ve searched the forum, called VFS Global, and found it impossible to reach SEF by phone from the U.S.

I am applying for a passive income d7 visa for temporary residence for Portugal.

I have called VFS Global, the consulate in Washington D.C., and attempted to reach SEF.

I have a goal of becoming a citizen of Portugal after 5 years of living there.

I need clarification on the minimum stay requirement as I often travel for business.

*Example: I am going on a 4 month trip and want to maintain my temporary residence visa for the foreseeable future. Will this 4 month trip invalidate my temporary residence permit when I go to renew it?

I need clarification on the minimum stay requirement for applying for permanent residency.

*Example: I am going on a 4 month trip and after 5 years of living inside of Portugal I want to apply for permanent residence. Will this 4 month trip hinder or extend my 5 year requirement?
