Question about the telenovela “O Sábio”

Hi everyone! I’m currently learning Portuguese and I’m watching “O Sábio” on RTP to improve my oral comprehension.

The video and sound quality made me think that this series was recorded in 2000-2005. I googled it out of curiosity and it says it came out in 2017! I’m a little shocked.

Is it because the RTP website lowers the quality of the content or is it common for Portuguese TV-shows to be recorded in this type of quality?
